CAL: Computer Aided Lutherie
Wanting to construct instruments that best reply to the musicians wants and needs, Hervé Tonnard has instigated a unique design and fabrication method, of which the main originality is to allow his clients a virtual visualisation of their future instrument on the computer from the first phase of the creation process and, therefore, to be involved in the creation process, in the choice of wood, form, colours...etc.
The first draft of your dream...
The conception of your instrument always starts with a long discussion between the luthier and the musician, which allows definition, according to the style and tastes of the client, of the main characteristics of the instrument to be created. Hervé Tonnard then prepares several projects conforming to these requirements and in accordance with the budget, and present s the different drafts to the client.

The chosen design is then digitalised on the computer to be refined by special software which allows the luthier to prepare a virtual rendering of textures and accessories which will give a very realistic image of the guitar or bass guitar that will be built.

At this stage in the design the form and accessories of the future guitar have been defined and all possible styles of decor can be imagined, tested and modified at will; the client now knows what his finished instrument will look like.
through the craftsman’s creation...
The virtual project on the computer then allows life size plans of the guitar to be prepared and the craftsman’s work can begin. With the chosen types of wood, all the lutherie work is undertaken in the workshop, which is equipped with high performance machines, in particular a paint cabin for all types of varnishing.

Before being delivered to the musician the instrument is paid great care and attention, Hervé Tonnard pays particular attention to the quality of the finish and the subtleties of the adjustments, which will make your guitar or bass guitar the exceptional instrument of your dreams.
